Balliceaux House

Your home in the Carribean

Balliceaux House is located on the windward side of the island of Bequia. Calm, windswept and natural. A nostalgic West Indies. The house is built with volcanic stone and greenheart wood. The style is warm, contemporary and uncluttered. Every angle of the house has large views of the ocean, undeveloped shoreline and the islands of Battowia and Balliceaux. Harbor restaurants are a short 10 min drive. This is a great house for adventurers and romantics.

3 private wings

3 bedrooms, each occupying a private section of the home with own bathroom and shower.

Island Setting

A perfect location to drop into charming town for shopping and restaurants or retreat for quiet and calm.

Architectural

Native volcanic stone, solid greenheart wood and nautical function marry island fun. A plunge pool, elevated balconies, and a large deck with room for dining round out the space.

The Island

The roads in Bequia are narrow and sporty. Open air pickups operate as taxis and are easy to call. For exploring and convenience a car rental is a good option. Those can be set up with the local management company. In my opinion it is much easier to rent a car on Bequia than to bring one over from the main island of St Vincent. I am glad to coordinate the logistics with guests. Charter boat captains are also available for exploring the other Grenadine islands and Tabago Cays.

The House

Balliceaux House is located in Spring Estate. Most of the houses are on large lots and are generously landscaped for privacy. The neighborhood began in the 1960s with a well known modern architect from the American Midwest. At this time, people arrived to Bequia by wooden schooner operating as the local ferry from St. Vincent. Many of the homes in Spring have an open air Polynesian or West Indies influence. Over the years, the house styles have become eclectic but the neighborhood remains relaxed and charming. The original Spring Hotel was built in the 1960s on a coconut plantation below the house. Just down the road is a historic sugarcane mill, now operating sea salt production and a restaurant.Built by sailors, the house reflects their penchant for simple efficiency and love of the outdoors. All rooms have large doors that can be opened completely to let the breeze move through. Much of the house has beautiful louvered shutters to let in light and air.

Amazing stay in Bequia! Beautiful house and incredible view. We thought this was the place to stay in Bequia! Less than 10 minute fun drive into town. Several great beaches nearby. Steve was very helpful and responsive to everything. He helped set up our rental car and other activities. Good restaurant recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!
